Megumi Oishi

like a stag in nightfall
dewdrops on spotted hairs
antlers ablaze in the wind
fresh wreath of velvet injury
bleeding draining bruising
for what does not ache
aching itching paining
for what does not bleed
bleach cotton white tail
flagging your surrender
but heavy is the head
and the young blood that it holds
if the reeds whisper to you
they are merely living waste
weeds that a rusted blade
will harvest by early morning
under the bone white moon
who will kiss your furrowed brow
dream of soft spring, of head rush
of being untamable and free
flaming pearl of the forest
come dawn, I promise you will
wear the crown of sun again
